Amend the Stolen Valor Act to include the false wearing of any US military uniform in a public place

Created by B.A. on April 02, 2015

The military uniform is something that is earned and many men and women have died for our country wearing it. It is a delicate image that can misrepresent our country and military if abused by people wanting to fraudulently receive discounts and thank you's from the public. Sadly the current Stolen Valor Act only includes wearing or claiming to have received certain medals such as the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart. This needs to be amended to include the unauthorized wearing of any US military uniform publicly that has the intent to represent oneself as a service member. If it is illegal to impersonate a doctor or police/peace officer then it needs to be illegal to impersonate a service member.
