Head of Households/Single Parents are Discriminated in the US Tax Code, when it comes to Education Credits/Deductions. Presently, there are two Income Limits. A Single Parent Family is allowed to earn $90,000; whereas a Two Parent Household can earn $180,000, regardless of whether the Second Parent Works. Every Family with College Aged Children, that earns under $180,000 should be allowed Education Credits/Deductions. There needs to be ONE Income for ALL Households, regardless of # Parents in the House. I am a Single Parent, and because I earn more than $90,000 and well less than $180,000 I cannot take a Student Loan Interest Deduction, although my Parent Plus Loan payment is $1,076 a month! I have never had an Education Credit, but Four of my Children attended College. We need Help!
