Amend the Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program to offer loan forgiveness of $17,500 to all educators in high needs schools.

Created by L.W. on November 12, 2013

Under the current Teacher Loan Forgiveness Act science, math and special education teachers who are employed at a Title I school are eligible for a loan forgiveness of up to $17,500.00 whereas teachers of other subjects are only eligible for a $5,000.00 forgiveness.

Educators at any school educate the same students, endure the same struggles, and have passed up other job opportunities that pay more regardless of the content they teach, and therefore every teacher should be entitled to the same amount of loan forgiveness.

Extending loan forgiveness to any teacher who teaches at a Title I school will help the schools that need talented teachers the most recruit, hire and retain them.
