Amend Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include sexual orientation and gender identity.

Recently, States such as Arizona and Kansas have proposed legislation which would effectively usher in a new era of "Jim Crow" laws geared to marginalize the LGBT minority of the United States. While this is certainly a violation of the spirit of American liberty, diversity, and tolerance, it is not, however, an explicit violation of the Constitution or existing federal law. In order to prevent such blatant discrimination in the United States, the Federal Government should take steps to block such legislation. To do this most effectively, Congress and the President should extend the protections offered to racial and ethnic minorities to both sexual and gender minorities by amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
