amend The Trafficking Victims Protection Act to bring about a minimum mandatory sentence of 8 years.

Created by M.M. on April 21, 2014

We the people of the United States of America, deem it necessary to change the current federal law regarding sex trafficking. As the law currently sits, an offender can get a drastically different sentence depending on where he gets sentenced. Most offenders are getting out of jail early on good behavior at around 18-24 months. We feel very strongly that this heinous crime should be a federal offence, dealt with in federal courts and not state courts. It is also our belief that due to the nature of the crime, the law should be amended as to have a mandatory minimum sentence of 8 years without possibility of parole. The maximum sentence should be 25 years.
