Amend Unemployment Insurance to assist those who work but are temporarily off work due to major illness/surgery.

Created by B.W. on March 04, 2014

Amendment to Unemployment Insurance is needed to assist hardworking Americans who have worked at least 12 consecutive months and who are temporarily off work due to a major illness or surgery. To help relieve the financial burden of no income during a period of 6 to 12 weeks. These individuals work hard and pay taxes to support those who don't. A time of physical recovery is mandated by the phycisian of the individual which does not allow this person to be "available for work" as mandated by the law to receive Unemployment "compensation". Although this law was put into place to protect and preserve the finances of the working class, it has created a loop hole for them to fall into when they need temporary help. We ask that this law be amended to temporarily assist for illness/surgery.
