Amend the United States Constitution to ban private ownership of assault weapons (ex. AR15, MAC-10, UZI).

Created by J.W. on December 14, 2012

The Second Amendment reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". Almost 250 years later after its ratification, the United States is one of the most powerful nations on this planet. The need to form a Militia using common citizens is no longer a need, and the ability of the common citizens to overthrow a tyrannical government is no longer an option. As a result, there is no longer a need for a private citizen to own an assault weapon, such as an AR-15, MAC-10, or UZI. Signors of this petition beg the United States Congress to pass an amendment to ban private ownership of assault weapons.
