This petition's purpose is to get the Army to reconsider their tattoo policy to continue to allow "sleeve" tattoos, so long as they are in good taste and not visible during wear of the dress uniform.
The new version of AR 670-1 severely limits previously authorized tattoos. Soldiers that have honorably served their country are no longer authorized to have more than four tattoos larger than the hand below the line of the elbow or knee (one tattoo per limb), and tattoos classified as "sleeves" are no longer authorized at all. While Service Members will be grandfathered and are eligible to continue serving, Enlisted members who exceed this newly imposed limit are barred from being eligible to apply for commissioning to become an Officer or Warrant Officer, regardless of prior qualifications.
