Amendment to the Federal Constitution that protects private businesses and churches from being sued by same-sex couples.

Created by D.B. on July 17, 2013

A number of states have legalized same-sex marriage. This petition is neutral on that particular issue. Rather, we request that an amendment be added to the Federal Constitution that would protect privately-owned businesses, churches, and religious groups from these lawsuits, and would further reiterate their right to express their freedom of religion and freedom of conscience.

We feel that an amendment to the Federal Constitution is needed at this time, since a number of same-sex couples have been suing private businesses and churches, who should have the right to refuse to participate directly or indirectly in a same-sex wedding. A law is not enough, since we have lost much faith in our court system. Please consider initiating this amendment for the sake of our God-given freedoms.
