We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

American Election Honesty Act

Created by D.W. on November 10, 2016

I am petitioning on behalf of all Americans, regardless of party affiliation, who are tired and worn-out by the endless rhetoric, mis-statements, or blatant lies used throughout our campaigns. What we are calling for is a change in our law, maybe including an option for a Constitutional amendment, to add a requirement for our candidates to be sworn in under oath when registering for candidacy of an elected office. This would mandate any and all candidates to base their platform on facts that drive the issues and hold them accountable under penalty of perjury under the proposed law if broken. It would require any candidate found guilty, or at fault, to publicly redact their statement(s) in an official statement that will reasonably reach the area in which they would potentially represent.
