American's shouldn't have to think twice before the call 911 for an ambulance. I agree if someone abuses the system then you have to pay but for most people who don't, gets the shock of a bill for a trip to the hospital.
Insurance that picks up $500 and then leaving $600 for you is not right. Next time, take a taxi; it will be cheaper than what the sleazy politicians charge you. We should be like the NHS and tax water bills or electrical bills extra to cover the cost of ambulance rides.
