Andrew Jackson should be removed from the $20 bill.

Created by C.C. on November 13, 2015

In 1830, President Jackson urged congress to pass the "Indian Removal Act." When Jefferson bought the Louisianna Purchase, it opened land in which the Indians were forced to live in, without say. Some of the Indian tribes refused, such as the "Cherokees," so Jackson used force against the Indians. In 1838, Jackson sent the US army to the round up 15,000 Cherokees and send them on a journey known as the "Trail of Tears." This was known as the "Trail of Tears," because nearly 1 out of every 4 Cherokee died. Most of them had to march on foot for about 1,000 miles west to the Oklahoma Territory on a journey that lasted approximatly 16 days. Instead of reasoning with the Cherokees, Jackson resorted to using force against them, causing many unnecessary deaths.
