The Chukchi Peninsula is across the Bering Strait and in close proximity to the Alaskan island of St. Lawrence. The people there residing deserve the opportunities afforded by an American way of life. Further, the populace of that region must be protected from threats and intimidation by a government it does not recognize as legitimate.
