Smoking cigarettes is monumental issue in America's society.
The companies of tobacco industries make hundred billions off the consumers, in returning giving them a chronic disease. Treatment for chronic diseases aren't cheap, usually ranging in the early thousands, but the issue here is that Healthcare is aiding in this health concern.
Smoking cost healthcare $150 billion dollars out of the government's money. Yes, you can argue that " the money is going back in to citizens", but not everyone in America is a smoker. There are other places where the $150 billion can be used resourcefully like: education for our future generations, technological research advancements, and more public resources.
