Shale Gas fracking is a new threat to United States citizens because it goes against the Clean Water Act and the Clean Air Act by polluting the air and water with remnants of chemicals from fracking. It takes about 1-8 million gallons of water to complete a fracture then the water is mixed with 40,000 gallons of chemicals to create fracking fluid. Up to 600 different chemicals are used in fracking fluids including many known carcinogens. The mixture is then pushed into the earth to release gas. During this process nearby groundwater is contaminated by methane gas and other pollutants affecting nearby residents. This petition is to stop the pollution from shale gas fracking to make our environment cleaner and citizens healthier.
