Any elected official that is paid by tax payer money should be held to perjury charges if he/she lies to the public

Any elected public official that is paid by taxpayer money should be held accountable for any public address he/she makes. Anyone found to blatantly lie should be charged with perjury. Before he/she makes statement he/she should take an oath just like someone in a trial, however if he/she doesn't want to answer a question obviously they would be protected by the 5th amendment but if something is answered they should have the responsibility to answer it truthfully.
