After the Yalta conference, an era of Soviet domination began in Central and Eastern Europe, which lasted from 1947, to 1991. It left bitter memories of Western betrayal and Soviet dominance in the collective memory of the region. This petition is an attempt for Americans to reconcile which those 'and descendants of those' whom this betrayal affected. Central and Eastern Europeans were subject to deportation and forced labor in gulags, losses of there property 'both possessions and lands', and execution. I would ask this administration to apologize for Americas 'then' "Lack of commitment to the ideals we entered the war with, namely, Justice and Freedom for all peoples affected by tyranny."
