America's relations with Iran over the years has been shameful and they deserve an apology for what we've done.
The CIA overthrew the secular Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadeq because he wanted Iran to be in control of Iran's oil. If the US had attempted to make the British work with Iran, not stab them in the back with an orchestrated coup, Iran would be a much better place. Instead, we ripped power away from the Iranian people and created an overpowered puppet government for ourselves which demonized America in the eyes of Iranians. We have never apologized for this and we should. If we apologized for the coup, and the fact that we killed 290 people (66 children) on flight 655 by accident, we could possibly open up relations with Iran.
