Recently I have been researching a way to change the gender marker on my Texas birth certificate, and have been informed most judges will refuse to do so, even with Sex Reassignment Surgery. This is unacceptable. Transgender individuals may not have the means to get their surgeries before they need a new gender marker, whether it is a lack of money or a lack of time off to heal. I propose that once an individual has begun gender therapy or hormone treatments that they be allowed to change any and all gender markers as needed.
