Federal regulations and inspections are needed to protect the public from gross damage that is possible through the processes of large, industrialized, interstate and, international food producers. Local food producers products and methods vary around the Country, their small volume by definition cannot do mass damage to the Nation and, Federal rules designed for the industrial food system that are applied to small local farmers seem to be burdensome to the farmer's operations, to the point of making desirable operations unprofitable, if not impossible.
