Apply a Federal Sales Tax on interstate sales when no State sales tax is collected

Created by T.C. on January 06, 2013

Federal sales tax on interstate sales when no State sales tax is collected. As a user of the internet and such sites as Ebay or Amazon to purchase items, I have found nice savings due to no sales tax collected. If the seller is in my state they collect sales Tax. I can save 7%. I propose a Fed sales tax of 4.5% on any interstate sales where no State Tax is collected. This includes retail sales for products delivered in the USA.

This new income should only be applied directly to reduce the Principal on the national debt.

One side benefit is to improve sales for local business as they can compete against the tax savings experienced now by out of state buyers. This will help keep small business operating and protect jobs.

This is a fair and necessary move to level the playing field. close
