I understand the IRS is being furloughed for only 5 days vs. 11 days, plus being given 2012 annual awards where other agencies have had awards frozen, the Department of Veterans Affairs is not participating in furloughs and is actually being given overtime to catch up on cases. Apply the number of sequestration days equally to all government employees. If pain is to be felt with this 20% cut in hours and pay, make it equal pain for all employees from all agencies include congress. This was a political idea, so make congress fell the pain with the civil servants. If an VA employee can still take a day off work, they obviously are not that mission essential to prevent them from feeling the furlough pain. If the IRS can be given annual awards, give them out to the other agencies.
