This petition is a request to apply diplomatic pressure against the Indian government to provide appropriate support to women who have been sexually assaulted. Women in India are faced with cultural insensitivity and ridicule for being raped. Charges are often dropped or never pursued against the cruel and violent criminals assaulting and, in a recent case, killing women (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/29/world/asia/condition-worsens-for-victi...). Diplomatic pressure that brings this serious issue to the forefront of the international communities view of India can help to force India to immediately improve their response to these crimes and, through long term efforts, help to improve the cultural stigma surrounding rape.
