Whereas it would cause damage to our nation to wait a full year to begin hearings in earnest to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia, and,
Whereas numerous members of the US Senate have already expressed a desire to subvert the spirit of the Constitution and deny the current President the power to appoint a justice,
We signatories ask that President Obama appoint an acting justice to the Supreme Court of the United States and direct him or her to report to work immediately under the condition that once the US Senate confirms a permanent replacement, the acting justice will immediately step down.
