We believe in the separation of church and state.
Current Supreme Court justices are either Catholic or Jewish. This hardly reflects American diversity. In his New Yorker article Lawrence M. Krauss notes that the Pew Research Center found that "about twenty-three per cent of American adults declare that they have no religious affiliation—which is two percentage points more than the number who declare themselves Catholic. Three per cent of Americans say that they are atheists—which means that there are more atheists than Jews in the United States. An additional four per cent declare themselves Agnostic…" Court decisions should not be influenced by religious beliefs. Who better to stay focused on the constitutionality of our laws than a person without religious affiliation?
