50 years ago during the Vietnam war era, the United States dropped approximately 2.5 million tons of bombs in the People's Democratic Republic of Lao. America was not at war with Laos but its neighbor the the east, Vietnam. Laos was in the middle of this battle for almost 20 years and continue to struggle with the aftermath 50 years later. If as readjusting wasn't hard enough, they also have to deal with millions of unexploded bombs littered all over the east side of the country, in rice fields, in the woods, right outside of schools. The United States government has done very little to correct this error.
