We hereby petition the President of The United States to seriously consider enlisting retired Johns Hopkins Hospital neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Solomon Carson for the position of United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Whatever one's opinion of the military and the recent wars in the Middle East, no one can deny the fact that our veterans need the thanks and support for their VOLUNTARY service in the name of the United States. Further, no one can deny the VA needs to be reformed to better serve the medical needs of those who have sacrificed so much. We submit that Dr. Carson's lifelong career of caring for others and his leadership roles in the medical field have prepared him for just such a momentous task.
