With the recent report from Frontline and the resignation of Lanny Breuer as the head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Dept. of Justice, it has become clear that there is a culture of 'only taking cases we can win' and little appetite into properly investigating and indicting individuals in the HSBC money-laundering case and in the multiple cases of derivatives packaging into CDO's that lead to our economic recession.
We run the risk of creating a bifurcated society when Aaron Swartz is bullied into suicide over copyright issues, but money laundering enabled by bankers leads to deaths of thousands at the hands of criminal gangs. To restore faith in the criminal justice system and to restore fairness to our justice system, we must have an independent prosecutor take over.
