Recent news reports show that the American public is doubtful of the IRS' claims that there is no scandal behind the targeting of activist interests by the agency. Additionally, the loss of email communication for the time period when the alleged targeting of activist groups transpired is suspicious at best, and has the odor of a cover-up; the IRS did not follow the law to report the loss of information to Congress, the people's representatives.
The American people deserve an honest and independent examination in full of these issues, and if laws were broken, those responsible must answer for their abuses of authority. The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government, and when those in government abuse their duty, it undermines democracy.
