WE the people encourage President Obama and his staff to appoint a new full time devoted Director to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, which has not had a Director since 2006. The ATF is the agency responsible for holding criminals accountable for illegal possession of explosives and firearms, and whose manpower would come into need where times like now need them. This would be the agency to, with the FBI and DOJ, perform background checks and create a Do-Not-Buy list for gun purchasing, should such laws be implemented.
