Please reconsider appointing a political lawyer to oversee the federal response to Ebola. By appointing a career politician to oversee the federal response to the Ebola outbreak you are telling us protecting reputations and votes are more important than protecting human life.
Being a "beltway insider" and "well regarded by both republicans and democrats" is not qualification enough for this serious role. This is not a political issue between republicans and democrats, this is a danger to human lives.
This country has a long history that shows appointing "czars" to manage federal roles across agencies is woefully ineffective. Playing politics is not the solution to every crisis in this country, please reconsider and show you are willing to protect Americans over political aspirations.
