appoint Sheila Bair, former chair of the FDIC and author of the book Bull by the Horns, as Secretary of the Treasury.

Created by R.W. on November 16, 2012

Sheila Bair's book "Bull by the Horns: Fighting to Save Main Street from Wall Street and Wall Street from Itself" makes clear the depth of her regulatory experience and her independence from Wall Street. In her efforts to strengthen oversight of and regulation on the U.S. banking industry -- both before and after the financial collapse of 2008 -- she fought constantly with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner who was clearly in the pocket of Wall Street. She would be a suitable replacement for him. She is a life-long Republican which would give her added credibility. Unlike most Republicans, she recognizes that markets do not regulate themselves and thus that there is a legitimate and necessary role for strong government. Her failed attempts to get more relief for homeowners are heartbreaking.
