President Obama, during his campaign, vowed to make government transparent and to end the revolving door between K Street and government. But what about the revolving door between Wall Street and government? The insidious influence of corporate money on government policy can never be expunged when the senior economic advisors and Treasury Department appointees read like a roster of Wall Street executives. We ask the President to appoint Paul Krugman, Joseph Stiglitz, or a similar progressive economist, one without recent ties to the very Wall Street banks that brought our economy to the brink of collapse, to a senior Treasury position with the power to shape policy. Return the fruits of the economy to the people instead of just its risks.
