appropriate more funds towards building affordable housing for disabled persons younger than senior citizens.

Created by S.J. on January 13, 2013

Appropriate money to the Department of Housing and Urban Development towards building more apartments or offer more solutions to those who are not senior citizens, but are disabled and can care for themselves so that this community can have access to AFFORDABLE housing. In some areas, the waiting list for 1 bedroom apartments are YEARS long and because these are single adults, they are shut out of housing developments or project based rentals. These adults have to pay market rate rent, often times, more than half of their income to decent housing until an apartment becomes available or their number comes up for section 8 assistance which may be more than several years.
