John F Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States who was assassinated on November 22, 1963. His brother Robert, was Attorney General, senator, and presidential candidate. He was assassinated on June 6, 1968. Both were leaders in shaping our national consciousness on matters of civil rights, justice, and equality. Both opposed the Vietnam War and sought peace through moral responsibility. Ironically, both gave their lives in their toil toward those goals. Both deserve a national monument in their memory that reminds us of our responsibility as US citizens.
