The US consumes over 20MM bbl/day of oil. A large part of this demand is inelastic. We now have the option to purchase this important commodity from our friendly neighbors to the north. Pipelines are an efficient way to transport the oil from Canada to the refineries in the gulf coast.
Obstructionism and politicization of this project is not going to reduce oil production. The oil is still going to be produced and is now being shipped farther out to Asia.
I urge leadership, courage and boldness to either approve the pipeline or make a strong case otherwise as to why this pipeline will hurt USA.
O&G industry creates more high paying jobs than practically any other sector. I look forward to a partnering Whitehouse to approve the pipeline.
