Building the Keystone pipeline is estimated to create jobs. However, building the pipeline to carry Tar Sands oil, we would be risking an environmental disaster and boosting an industry practice which is polluting Alberta (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61X4IQqnmd0).
Texas has been in a drought that has caused significant losses to farmers due to lack of water since 2011. California is facing the same problem, and due to rising temperatures this problem will only get worse.
Also due to climate change, the Great lakes are estimated to rise causing flooding risks.
I propose building the pipeline to carry WATER from the Great Lakes to Texas and California.
This would create jobs, provide water security for millions and boost the economy by avoiding agricultural losses.
