The United States Postal Service currently can not set rates for postage. Due to its administrative obligations and current budget deficit, the USPS should be allowed to adjust postage stamp rates as it sees fit in order to reduce its budget deficit and meet its financial obligations.
These changes will allow the USPS to raise much needed funds and it could allow costs to be evenly distributed among different areas of service. After the budget deficit is resolved, the USPS would then be able to adjust rates to meet demand.
Congress cannot be allowed to run the USPS into insolvency. As recently Congress has not been able to pass budgets for the country, the USPS should be allowed to self-administer to save itself from further budget crises.
