The LPCC licensure was created to allow counselors to continue to progress in their ability to provide services to their patients. The problem is while the requirements of the LPCC are the same as those for the licensed clinical social worker (LICSW), the LPCC is unable to bill Medicare like the LICSW, for providing the same services.
