Approve the use of VA loans outside the continental United States by all Veterans who served honorably

Created by B.T. on January 06, 2014

According to the Veteran Affairs website, VA loans can only be used in the CONUS and its territories. After serving honorably in the armed forces, if a veteran or service member decides to live OCONUS or its territories, why shouldn’t he/she receive the same entitlements as service members (SM) who choose to live in CONUS or its territories?
These benefits are attributed to the sacrifices made by all present and past SM regardless of choice of residence. The Post 9/11 G.I. Bill approved the International education programs to be used outside the US, so why not apply the same allowances for VA loan program for homes and businesses?
We urge the VA Dept to collaborate with banking institutions to support service members and veterans, who make the informed decision to live OCONUS.
