In 2009 microsoft announced the closure of the MSN Direct Spot network in early 2012. At that time thousands of MSN Spot ready devices would no longer receive updates.
Some devices would even cease to work completely.
Leaving consumers with nothing more than hefty paper weights or antique wrist bands.
I petition the whitehouse to seize control of the spot network, re-open its development. Specify its development be nurtured around EMS and human services as well as allowing consumers open access to it as a form of last mile communication.
Not only would this re-open this form of communication but also keep thousands of devices out of the landfill.
