On July 1, 2015 Dr. Walter James Parker of Minnesota killed a collared and protected lion named Cecil. The lion was lured from the protected area of Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park and first shot with a crossbow. The lion was wounded and tracked for 40 hours before being shot and killed with a rifle. Cecil was then beheaded and skinned. There was an unsuccessful attempt to destroy the GPS collar he had been wearing. It is illegal to hunt collared animals. Two locals have been arrested and identified Parker as the trigger man. I am petitioning the government to arrest Parker and extradite him Zimbabwe to face charges for his crime.
