In the week leading up to April 12, numerous self-proclaimed "patriots" and "militia" members took up arms to impede federal agents who were engaged in upholding the laws of the United States. These actions are clearly in violation of federal law, and we ask the Obama administration to make arrests for those who took aim at our federal agents.
Those who pointed their weapons at federal agents are, at a minimum, guilty of seditious conspiracy (18 U.S.C. 2384) and assault on a federal officer (18 U.S.C. 111). They put the lives of federal agents at risk in an effort to ignore and overthrow the authority of our elected officials.
If there are no consequences for these individuals' actions, others will no doubt attempt their own seditious acts.
