This petition is intended to ask for a better regulatory standard on pet food products, including requiring pet food manufacturers to provide accurate nutritional information for their products as follows:
1. Require Metabolize Energy Content (ME) to replace Guaranteed Analysis (GA) on each package of pet food products.
ME contains actual percent of calories that are proteins, fat, and carbohydrates- where the GA displays inaccurate minimum/maximum percentiles.
2. Require nutritional values similar to a Typical Nutrient Analysis (TNA or 'As Fed') to be accessible for consumers at any time.
Currently, pet foods are required to be safe to eat, but they are not required to provide TNA information. This is similar to nutritional values on human food, but an average of pet food batches.
