Oftentimes the various rights of people are in conflict and with special care to protect the minority view such conflicts need to be resolved to provide for the greater good. Increasingly firearms are causing more harm to our society than any good they might provide. Not just in the ultimate harm of taking a person's life, but in the harder to quantify harm of destroying our society's spirit.
When we live in daily fear in own neighborhoods- in our shops and schools- any benefit of having an armed populace to deter an invasion by foreign powers or by our own government gone astray is more than wholly negated by having destroyed our society ourselves- one school shooting, one theater massacre, one child killed playing with a gun at a time.
Second Amendment- the price is too high.
