We believe the Obama Administration should ask the Canadian Government to restate Katimavik, a vital Canadian environment stewardship program for youth.
Katimavik, meaning meeting place in Inukitut is a national program, which educates Canadian youth aged 17 to 21 years through volunteer work. This six-month program provides opportunities for young Canadians across the country to participate in volunteer programs in two different Canadian regions. Through this full-time and intensive work Katimavik youth volunteers improve their second official language skills, learn about environmental stewardship and Canadian cultures, and develop a healthy lifestyle and leadership skills.
