We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Ask Congress to allocate funds for additional training for law enforcement personnel.

Created by L.D. on October 13, 2016

Due to the ever increasing instances of violence by and against law enforcement personnel, I would like to formally request the funding of additional mandatory community audited training for all current and future law enforcement personnel. This goals of this training would be to improve situational assessment and deescalation tactics used by officers, increase officer safety while reducing overall casualties through improved rules of engagement, increase the use of less lethal force, and reduce the role of innate and systemic biases in the field. Through community auditing the training can be monitored, critiqued, and adjusted accordingly so that it is as effective as possible while simultaneously restoring the trust of the community and repairing overall community relations.
