I ask that the Obama administration request that Congress amend the Voting Rights act of 1965 so as to extend the coverage of pre-clearance to every state of the union. This may seem irrational at first but in reality is entirely sound in thought.
Discrimination, bigotry, and the machinations of those who wish to remain in power by robbing the people of their voice and ability to engage in government is not limited to one single geographical region but may arise anywhere in which there are people who desire to keep their power and expand it at the cost of others.
All states within the union should be forced to prove that any changes in their voting laws, regulations, procedures, or redistricting are not efforts intended to infringe upon the rights of citizens to vote or impede them.
