To ask congress to create a cap on student loan debt for borrowers whose debt has an interest component of over 50%.

Created by B.K. on January 18, 2015

Proposal: That the Congress shall, in order to help borrowers pay back loans, and to prevent usurious collection of payments by servicers, create a cap on individual student loan indebtedness. This shall be done by insuring that no individual indebtedness shall have an interest component larger than 50% of the total aggregate owed to the loan servicer. To prevent fraud by either party, this cap shall be based upon solely the original principal of all loans. It shall not be based upon the new loan amount based upon purchase price from one servicer to another, as is the current policy. The current policy is de jure fraud, instituted in Congress, but clearly without that intention. Fairness to both servicer and borrower has always been the intent of the Congress, and will be hereafter.
