Ask congress to link the federal minimum wage to federal poverty levels with periodic adjustments.

Created by J.C. on September 21, 2014

There is a a great amount of the strife over the federal minimum wage. In response I would propose to congress the following:
1- The federal minimum wage is to be defined as 110% of the federal poverty level for a household of 2 adults and 2 children. (assuming 40 hours/week)
2- The federal minimum wage is to be adjusted to meet the standard defined above no less than once every 5 years.
These changes would assure that working Americans would be able to provide for their families. It would promote family values by allowing working Americans the option of one parent remaining in the home to raise their children. It would promote stability in businesses by providing a transparent definition of the federal minimum wage and when it will be adjusted, allowing proper planning and budgeting.
